Why Markdown

Human understanding is a bottleneck. That is why I moved Prose toward Markdown.
When I designed the first syntax, I wanted programs to be concise, self-evident and structured. They should use context sparingly, require little documentation, and make the intended flow clear. I also wanted a way to address the operating agent directly and draw on its judgment.
Markdown could still do those things. The change did not mean accepting arbitrary Markdown and hoping for the best. I was working toward a specific structure within a format people could read.
I had started wrapping my Prose programs in declarative Markdown in February. For a few weeks, I did not notice that I was programming one level higher.
