Engineering still needs rigor

Engineering systems that make other systems is still engineering.

Moving up a level of abstraction does not remove the need for rigor, form, principles, specificity and disambiguation. It changes the level at which you apply them.

Even when the system seems full of magic, the engineer still needs a common language, a discipline and a toolshed.

That was the thesis behind the OpenProse stack I was building: the era of the engineer had barely begun.
